Dr. V.Chandrasekar is an Associate Professor (Food Process Engineering) and presently in-charge of computer center. He completed B.Tech (Food Process Engineering), M.Tech (Agricultural Processing) and Ph.D (Agricultural and Food Process Engineering) in 2005, 2007 and 2016, respectively, at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Coimbatore. He was awarded with RAJIV GANDHI National fellowship for pursuing Ph.D. He also completed a Post Graduate Diploma in NGO Management from Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai. He qualified ICAR- ARS and NET exam. He attended Quality Improvement Programs at IIT Kharagpur, IIT Guwahati and IIT Delhi and attended one faculty development program on Total Quality Management at Kongu Engineering College (KEC)./b>
Prior to his association with IIFPT, he worked as lecturer and assistant professor in KEC, affiliated to Anna University, Chennai from 2007 to 2013 and as scientist in ICAR-Central Institute of Post-Harvest Engineering and Technology (ICAR-CIPHET), Ludhiana, Punjab from 2016 to 2019. He taught heat transfer, dairy engineering, fermentation technology, equipment design and total quality management to undergraduate and post graduate students. He established and supervised the dairy engineering laboratory and also supervised heat transfer, and food equipment design laboratory courses. He has guided 8 groups of food technology students each group consists of 3 to 4 members. He was the instrumental for developing curriculum and syllabus for B.Tech., Food technology as the capacity of the co-coordinator for curriculum development and board of studies. He developed the linkages between industry and institute as the capacity of Industry-Institute partnership cell and placement coordinator. At ICAR-CIPHET, he was the second in charge of AICRP-PHET Coordination unit and coordinated AICRP-PHET working centers across the India. He coordinated five national level workshops funded by CSIR, UGC and ICAR.
He was awarded with best faculty award in the year 2013 and best paper and poster presentation awards in national conferences. He published 16 research papers both international and national journals, 4 book chapters and two workshop reports. He served as a peer reviewer in LWT-Food Science and Technology (Elsevier); Ozone: Science & Engineering (Taylor & Francis); Journal Agricultural Engineering (ISAE) and is a member in selected professional bodies.
His areas of interest are development and analysis of systems used for food processing using modelling and simulation; food rheology; footprints of food industries.
